Every Reason To Visit Zambia’s Stunning Zambezi Grande Lodge Now

An ode to nature and wildlife, the beautiful family-owned game lodge beckons adventure and leisure-seekers alike

Following a brief closure during the Zambian off-season, Zambezi Grande began welcoming guests once again last month for the much-anticipated 2024 dry season. The pristine property, nestled on the banks of the majestic Zambezi River and a stone’s throw away from the Lower Zambezi National Park, takes advantage of its awe-inspiring natural surroundings.

The intimate, family-owned game lodge features ten rooms and suites, each boasting mesmerising riverscapes. The award-winning accommodation is also complemented with the resort’s once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including game drives, walking safaris, river safaris, and fishing excursions.

Formerly a Cape Dutch-style homestead on the river banks, Zambezi Grande was carefully designed as the pinnacle of understated luxury in the Lower Zambezi, celebrating a bygone safari era.

Completely reimagined by Michele Throssell Interiors, the lodge is located amidst breathtaking natural surroundings with interiors that reflect the warm tones of its setting and pay homage to the heritage of the location.

Much of the furniture has been tailor-made by local artisans, with pillows and other soft furnishings throughout the hotel rooms and common areas stitched especially for the lodge. The rooms and suites all feature a handmade bespoke drinks cabinet curated explicitly for each guest and stocked with a variety of South Africa’s finest wines, local Zambian gin, and homemade fresh juices.

Guests of Zambezi Grande can embark on a number of adventures that are designed to be keepsakes of the mind; the gorgeous positioning between a prime sector of the Zambezi riverfront and a key national park in Zambia ensures an abundance of wildlife – expect wild dogs, elephants, leopards, lion, hippos, buffalo, zebra and kudu, alongside a jaw-dropping diverse landscape.

Relax and immerse yourself in African beauty by the grand infinity swimming pool, a private-island dinner under the stars or simply by gazing at the passing wildlife from the lodge’s terrace. Or, for more of a thrill, opt for a river safari by boat along the scenic Zambezi River, discovering the region’s perfectly sustained nature with nearly 400 different bird species.

With wildlife, luxury and nature all under one roof, Zambezi Grande offers a truly unforgettable, home-away-from-home experience.
